Artist Statement
As our world becomes faster, sleeker, and more technical, I look for balance in the
organic and the hand made. Fiber art lends warmth to a cold room, layered interest
to an inquisitive mind, and texture to eager fingertips. It eases. It engages.
I have a background in quilt making, but now work primarily in paper, both in two
and three dimensions, with rope and reed armature. A year of study in Japan
introduced me to simplicity of form, integrity of materials, and attention to
detail. I attempt to infuse these concepts into my art.
